A love poem to a forbidden space. The speech of the clarinet echoes each line of Edna St. Vincent Millay's poem as well as transfigures the "memory of this night" in the Princeton University Chapel, a space commissioner Henry Ando and I both loved. We recorded it after the Chapel closed for the night on February 20, 2020, shortly before we were sent home due to the pandemic. In the months that followed, I mixed the recordings such that the original reverb and hum of the Chapel were preserved in their entirety, a relic of a building then far away.
